2025 Athlete Identification Process

The Athlete Identification process will be held virtually for the 2025 Team Ontario programs. This process will be held through an online application and video submission.

The early bird deadline to submit an application is February 16th, 2025. Applications submitted before this deadline will cost $50.00+hst. The final deadline to submit an application is March 2nd, 2025. Applications submitted between February 17th and March 2nd will cost $65.00+hst.

Athletes who wish to be identified for Team Ontario will be required to complete physical testing at Ontario Championships.

Please click on the following links to watch game play from 2024 Team Ontario programs. These videos should give athletes an idea of the skill level and pace of play of the different Team Ontario programs. Team Ontario Regional Program Ontario Summer Games, Team Ontario White Girls Team Ontario Cup, Team Ontario Red Boys Canada Cup, Team Ontario Black Girls Canada Cup.

As part of the application, athletes/parents agree to receive reminders through SMS/Email regarding their Athlete ID application based on their submitted data.

    Athletes who apply for the TM program only will not be considered for other indoor programs.

    No video required. Athletes will submit an online application and complete physical testing.

  • Team Ontario Regional Program information can be found here.

    Athletes who apply for the indoor programs will automatically also be considered for the TM program.

    Athletes will be required to submit an indoor highlight video (via YouTube). Athletes will submit their online application and must complete physical testing.

    Highlight Video Instructions:

    Athlete highlight videos must include no more than 16 full rallies (no single skill clips). Video should be from the current 2024-2025 OVA season. Make sure you clearly identify yourself in the video by noting the colour of your jersey and your number within the video and in the video description.

    • A rally starts with a serve and ends with a point being scored. Include a mix of rallies featuring you in the front row and back row. Make sure you choose rallies that showcase all skills.

      • Serving, defending, blocking, setting in and out of system, attacking, blocking, etc.

      *Please note that rallies taken from gameplay within a practice context are also accepted. In this case, a rally could start with another action then a serve (i.e.: a coach putting a down ball in play to start a rally).

    Athletes who apply for the indoor programs will automatically also be considered for the TM program.

    Athletes will be required to submit an indoor highlight video. Athletes can also provide a full match video as a supporting video, but this video is optional. Athletes will submit their online application and must complete physical testing.

    Highlight Video Instructions:

    Full-Game Video Instructions (*Optional Supporting Video):

    Athletes interested in the Team Ontario Indoor programs (White, Red and Black) may submit a full game (non-edited) video to be evaluated. This is an optional supporting video. The full game should be 2 or 3 sets long. You can submit 2 full sets from 2 different matches. Please identify your team and your number in the video. Video should be from the current 2024-2025 OVA season.

    Exhibition games or 6v6 gameplay played within a practice context are also accepted. Make sure to clearly identify yourself in the video.

  • Athletes who apply for Team Ontario Beach will automatically also be considered for the TM program.

    Athletes will be required to submit an intro video, movement video and EITHER a highlight video or a full match video. Athletes will submit their online application and must complete physical testing.

    Movement Video Instructions:

    The video can be recorded anywhere, and the athlete must complete the movements below:

    • 10 high knees in place.

    • 4 lunges (1 to the right, 1 in front with right foot, 1 in front with left food, 1 to the left).

    • 2 burpees to squat hold (1 facing the camera, one to the side).

    • 4 throws (2 towards the camera, 2 to the side of you non-throwing arm - use a tennis ball).

    • 3 counter movement jumps in a row with no pause.

    • 5 bound with arms (Sync your arms with your bound).

    • 2 back-to-back step blocks (1 to the right, 1 to the left); Immediately followed by 2 back-to-back swing block (1 to the right, 1 to the left).

    • Video should be recorded from the current year.

    Full Beach Game Video Instructions:

    The full match video should be 2 or 3 sets long. Please be sure to clearly identify yourself in the video. Video should be from the 2024 Summer Beach Tour season or 2024-2025 Winter Beach Tour season.

    If an athlete does not have access to footage on the beach, interested athletes can attend an OVA Winter Beach Tour event or Drop In Beach Training session to be considered for a Team Ontario Beach program.

    Beach Highlight Video Instructions:

    The highlight video must include 8 rallies starting from serve receive, and 8 rallies starting from serve. Please be sure to clearly identify yourself in the video. Video should be from the 2024 Summer Beach Tour season or 2024-2025 Winter Beach Tour season.

    If an athlete does not have access to footage on the beach, interested athletes can attend an OVA Winter Beach Tour event or Drop In Beach Training session to be considered for a Team Ontario Beach program.

    **If an athlete does not have access to beach footage and are unable to attend Winter Beach Tour events or beach drop-in, they can submit indoor video footage.
