2025 MARCH BREAK BEACH VOLLEYBALL CAMP
COCLES, COSTA RICA
OVA and Beach High-Performance is excited to announce that we are bringing our Beach March Break camp outdoors to Cocles, Costa Rica in 2025.
Like Canada, Costa Rica is a part of the North, Central America, and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA).
OVA athletes between the ages of 15-18, will travel to Cocles, Costa Rica for six days for them to learn, train and enjoy beach volleyball in an outdoor setting.
This is a great opportunity for families to enjoy a March-break vacation, while their child develops their beach volleyball skills just in time for beach competition.
(Please note: Parents are responsible for their child outside of training sessions while in Costa Rica).

Program Objective:
- To provide a pre-season opportunity for Train to Train and Learn to Compete athletes (age 15-18) to develop their beach volleyball skills.
- To provide outdoor training to Ontario beach volleyball players in the middle of March.
- To introduce athletes to Team Ontario beach volleyball concepts.
- To provide the option for families to enjoy a vacation together with a beach volleyball camp for the kids.Training Focus
- Introducing beach volleyball concepts with an emphasis on physical literacy & developing whole skills.
- Developmentally appropriate individual technical and tactical components of beach volleyball
- Playing with external factors (wind, sun, heat).
- Offensive and defensive concepts - Serving, passing, setting, attacking, block peel decisions, digging.
- Managing yourself in an unfamiliar environment. -
Athlete Eligibility
- 2007-2010 Female and Male
- 15 - 18 years old as of March 10, 2025
- Athletes can choose to attend as an individual or as a team, however must be accompanied by parent/guardian. -
Camp Dates:
- Arrival to San Jose: Sunday March 9th, 2025
- Departure from San Jose to Cocles via OVA shuttle: March 10, 2025 8am
- Training dates: March 10 – 15, 2025
- Departure from Cocles to San Jose via OVA shuttle: March 15, 2025 4pm

Athletes and families do not have to stay at the resort should they want to find their own accommodations.

- The training location is a 4-hour shuttle from the San Jose airport.
- ARRIVAL: A shuttle will be arranged for Monday, March 10th morning heading to Cocles from San Jose for those that prefer to travel via bus. The cost is $30usd per person.
- DEPARTURE: A shuttle will be arranged for Saturday, March 15h late afternoon/evening heading to San Jose from Cocles. The cost is $30usd per person.
- Pick up & drop off will either be at the Country Inn & Suites By Radisson

- Cost for the shuttle is to be paid in American.
- Athletes/parents can choose one-night accommodations the day before as they see fit.

- This program is designed for families to be able to enjoy a vacation while their child attends the camp. Supervision will be provided by our coaches only during training time slots.

- Camp schedule will consist of two on court sessions per day with a single session day in the middle of the week to manage load. Opportunity for competitin will be created for the Friday/Saturday sessions.
- One morning session and one afternoon session.
- Full camp schedule will be provided at a later date once all participants have been registered. -
Camp coaches are provincial team coaches monitored and mentored by Senior Beach Development Coach Angie Shen. Angie is an internationally experienced coach whose athletes she’s supported have won multiple medals at Youth and Junior World Championships, including the 2014 U21 World Championship Gold. Angie has been coaching provincial and national team athletes since 2007. She has her NCCP Advanced Coaching Diploma from the Canadian Sport Institute of Ontario, and is an NCCP Master Coach Developer.

- Athletes are required to have their own chaperoning outside of on-court training.
- This program is designed for families to be able to enjoy a vacation while their child attends the camp. Supervision will be provided by our coaches only during training time slots.
- Parents are responsible for their child outside of training sessions.
- Camp cost does not include expenses and needs for chaperones and or athletes outside of actual training camp.
(Camp registration does not include accommodation, flight, meals, insurance, ground transportation, etc.)

The refund deadline is Sunday January 26th. After this day, we can only provide a full refund if we’re able to fill the spot with athletes from the waitlist. Otherwise the regular OVA refund policy will apply.
